Chronic Telogen Effluvium

It doesn’t sound good whatever it is right? It is something which unfortunately most doctors don’t pay much attention to. Often chronic or acute telogen effluvium is diagnosed as alopecia or androgenic alopecia.

If you have heard of telogen effluvium then maybe your doctor got it right.

Telogen effluvium

This is when hair falls out due to a major stress in the body. The stresses aren’t just stresses you might think of, like emotional stress or physical stress. Often it can be hormonal stress, it can be what happens during the menopause – particularly when you are just entering the menopause, it can be what happens just after delivering a baby.

There are a lot of different types of stresses on the body and they can effect your hair in two ways:

  1. Firstly, when your body is under stress, nutrients that you would normally use to nourish your hair are needed other places. In fact most of the key nutrients than nourish their hair also nourish the nervous system: when you’re under a lot of stress your nerves come first and your hair gets left behind, often in your plughole. What you are dealing with here is a stress which leaves the hair behind because the nutrients are needed in other parts of the body.
  2. Secondly, when your body is stressed your hair can go into what is called a telogenic state. Telogen effluvium is when a lot of the hair shuts down and sheds. The telogen state of hair is simply follicles which aren’t producing hair temporarily. We all have hair follicles which aren’t producing hair right now. Most commonly hair follicles which are in a telegenic state account for around about 25 to 35% of your total hair follicles. When he gets up to 50% or 60% hair starts falling out in clumps and it doesn’t look so good and properly scares you it – that is telogen effluvium.

Chronic telogen effluvium

Chronic telogen effluvium is a type which lasts for more than six months and often has more persistent triggers than the shorter lived acute telogen effluvium. sometimes the trigger is an identifiable but in most cases it is dietary, or more specifically zinc or iron deficiency with the latter being the most common.

Florisene is a unique tablet formulation designed to tackle this nutritional shortfall as quickly as possible.
